MELBOURNE - Jan 19/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high 1022 hPa south of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be centred near Tasmania on the weekend. A weak trough of low pressure over the northeastern interior of South Australia will remain near stationary for the next few days. Forecast for the rest of FridayScattered showers west of Ceduna until late afternoon, decreasing to isolated showers otherwise over the Pastoral, Flinders, and West Coast districts south of about Moomba to Marla. The chance of isolated morning thunderstorms west of Ceduna. Isolated thunderstorms also possible during the afternoon and evening over the northeast of the Flinders district and the Northeast Pastoral east of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm near the coast, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong about parts of the coast during the afternoon and evening.Saturday 21 JanuaryFine apart from the chance of isolated showers in the far west. Mild to warm near the coast, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southeast to northeast winds, reaching fresh to strong southeasterly near the coasts in the afternoon and evening.Sunday 22 JanuaryIsolated showers north of about Ceduna to Clare. The chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms northeast of Port Augusta. Warm to hot, grading to very hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds.Monday 23 January The chance of isolated showers except over the southeast of the State. Possible isolated thunderstorms over the northeast interior. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northeast winds, turning moderate southerly in the west. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday until midnight Monday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, increasing to 2 to 5 mm over the West Coast district west of Ceduna. Local falls to 10 mm with thunderstorms. Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers, with isolated thunderstorms over the northern and eastern interior. Becoming milder about the coasts, remaining hot to very hot over the remainder.
