Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 18/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move to the northeast this evening. A slow moving ridge of high pressure will form to the south of Victoria on Thursday with a trough of low pressure extending from New South Wales to northern Victoria. The trough will remain slow moving over eastern Victoria on Friday and Saturday, then weaken on Sunday as a high pressure system consolidates east of Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the north and east, clearing eastwards this evening. Partly cloudy with cooler southerly winds in the south and west extending northeastwards.Thursday 19 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Warm to hot and mostly sunny inland, milder and partly cloudy near the coast. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate in the southeast, high elsewhere.Friday 20 JanuaryFine apart from scattered showers and thunderstorms in the east, mainly during the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot over the north with generally light to moderate southeasterly winds.Saturday 21 JanuaryMorning drizzle patches near the coast. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the east. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot over the north with generally light to moderate southeast to easterly winds.Sunday 22 JanuaryFine apart from early light showers in Gippsland, and isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the northwest. Generally warm to hot and sunny with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, milder in the southeast with freshening easterly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Thursday.Product IDV10310
