MELBOURNE - Jan 17/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure is located over the northeast of the State where it will remain through to Saturday. A high pressure system southwest of the Bight will move slowly eastwards to be centred near Tasmania on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers over the agricultural and southern pastoral areas north of Ceduna to Adelaide to Mt Gambier contracting east. Possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the northern agricultural area and southern pastorals. Hot to very hot in the north with light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds. Mild to warm near the coast with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds, fresh to strong about parts of the coast in the afternoon and evening.Thursday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers over the Pastoral and Flinders districts south of about Marree to Marla. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the Flinders district, and Northeast Pastoral south of Leigh Creek. Mild near the coast grading to hot inland. Moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening near the coast with afternoon sea breezes.Friday 20 JanuaryIsolated showers over the Pastoral and Flinders districts south of about Moomba to Marla, and over the West Coast west of Ceduna. Isolated early thunderstorms in the far west and possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the Flinders district, and Northeast Pastoral south of Leigh Creek. Mild to warm near the coast, hot elsewhere. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds and fresh afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 21 JanuaryFine over the southern agricultural area, isolated showers over the remainder, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms in the east. Warm near the coast, generally hot elsewhere with moderate southeast to northeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning until midnight Saturday are expected to be 1 to 2 mm, with isolated falls of 2 to 5 mm with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers away from southern coasts, contracting to the north and east on Monday and Tuesday.
