Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 16/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand is extending a ridge to northwestern New South Wales and a low pressure trough off the north coast is deepening in response to an upper level trough approaching from the west. The offshore trough will move east during Wednesday as a cold front crosses the west and southeast of the state. Behind the front another high pressure system is expected to move towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the north coast and weak trough is expected to remain over the west of the state.
Forecast for the rest of MondayMostly sunny in the west. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered in the northeast and on the central coast. Possible local heavy falls near the far north coast. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeastern inland. Mostly east to northeast winds.Tuesday 17 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast, tending scattered near the coast and on adjacent ranges. Possible local heavy falls near the far north coast. The chance of showers on the central coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Wednesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coast. Isolated showers about the Victorian border. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Thursday 19 JanuaryIsolated showers coast and ranges tending scattered on the far north coast. Isolated showers about the Victorian border. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeast winds.Friday 20 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the far west. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scattered on the far north coast and on the western slopes of the southern ranges.
