Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 15/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea will approach New Zealand today as a trough of low pressure reaches the Bight. The trough will enter southwest Victoria late Tuesday afternoon and will cross the remainder of the State during Wednesday although will have little impact on temperatures across northern Victoria. A slow moving ridge of high pressure will form to the south of Victoria on Thursday with a trough of low pressure extending from New South Wales to northern Victoria.
Forecast for the rest of MondayFine apart from early morning fog patches over Gippsland and isolated afternoon showers over the far eastern ranges. A warm to hot and mainly sunny day with moderate to fresh northerly winds, although milder seabreezes developing along the Gippsland and far west coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Generally High, reaching Very High in the west.Tuesday 17 JanuaryMostly sunny. Isolated showers developing over the southwest later in the day. Warm to hot northerly winds freshening in the afternoon ahead of a cooler south to southwesterly change over the southwest in the late afternoon and evening.Wednesday 18 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms over most districts, although showers mostly clearing from the west during the afternoon. Warm to hot in the north and east with northerly winds, but milder southerly winds gradually extending throughout.Thursday 19 JanuaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. Mild to warm in the south and warm to hot over the north with generally light to moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
