WASHINGTON - Jan 12/12 - SNS -- Production of proso millet in 2011 totaled 9.15 million bushels, down 21% from 2010, according to the USDA's final production estimate for 2011 crops.
Planted area, at 370,000 acres, is down 5%, while harvested area, at 338,000 acres, is down 7% from last year. The average yield for 2011 is estimated at 27.1 bushels per acre, down 4.7 bushels from last year and the lowest average yield since 2006.
