Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 11/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea is deepening in response to and upper-level trough approaching from the west. The low will move rapidly to the east-southeast during Thursday as a high pressure system moves slowly towards Tasmania extending a ridge to northeastern New South Wales. Later on Friday or Saturday, a low pressure trough will extend from Queensland over the northeastern inland parts of the state. The trough is expected to move west during Sunday as the high moves east of Tasmania extending the ridge to the north coast.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers in the southeast tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges with possible snow showers above 1600 meters in the evening. Isolated thunderstorms near the south coast. Mostly clear elsewhere. West to southwest winds, fresh and gusty in the southeast and near central and coasts, turning and gusty southerly in the southeast.Thursday 12 JanuaryThe chance of showers near the central coast and the chance of early showers on the far south coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwest winds, fresh to strong along the coast at first.Friday 13 JanuaryPartly cloudy throughout. Southeast to southwest winds.Saturday 14 JanuaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast. Isolated showers on the south and central coasts and ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds in the northeast, and south to southeast winds elsewhere.Sunday 15 JanuaryPartly cloudy in the far west. Isolated showers elsewhere tending scatted the north coast and ranges.
