Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 10/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure lies across central and northern New South Wales while a weak trough moves over the southeast. A low is expected to develop over Bass Strait early Wednesday in response to an approaching upper-level feature, with an associated cold front moving across the region as the low moves to the southern Tasman Sea. Cooler conditions will remain on Thursday as the low moves towards New Zealand and a high pressure ridge strengthens from the west.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers about the southern coast and ranges. The chance of showers about the northern tableland. Fine elsewhere. Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds inland, and northeast to southeasterly winds near coast.Wednesday 11 JanuaryScattered showers about the Snowy Mountains and far south coast, with possible snow on higher parts of the Alps. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southeast, possibly extending to central parts of the coast in the evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate to fresh west to to southwest winds, turning colder, strong and gusty southerly in the southeast.Fire Danger -  Very High: Northern Rivers, Northern Tablelands, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Riverina.Thursday 12 JanuaryThe chance of isolated showers in the far southeast, otherwise fine and mostly sunny. South to southwest winds, fresh to strong along the coast at first.Friday 13 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the north coast, otherwise fine. Southeast to southwest winds.Saturday 14 JanuaryIsolated showers about the coast and ranges, extending to parts of the northern inland in the afternoon with the chance of thunderstorms. Fine across the central west and southwest. East to northeast winds in the northeast, and south to southeast winds elsewhere.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDN10031
