MELBOURNE - Jan 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front will move across southern Victoria tonight and early Tuesday. A stronger cold front will move across the State on Wednesday. A high pressure system will move south of the Bight on Wednesday, but will weaken on Thursday. A weak cold front will cross Tasmania later on Friday and then the high will move slowly eastwards. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers over the south, mainly near the coast. Moderate to fresh westerly winds, strong at times near the coast.Tuesday 10 JanuaryIsolated showers, mainly over southern and mountain districts, scattered near the coast. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south. Mild and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Fire Danger - Moderate to High.Wednesday 11 JanuaryFine in the northwest. Scattered showers elsewhere, mainly over southern and mountain districts. Possible snow about the alpine peaks. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, strong near the coast.Thursday 12 JanuaryIsolated showers in southern and mountain districts, contracting eastwards. Possible early snow about the Alpine peaks. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds, strong at first in the east.Friday 13 JanuaryIsolated showers near the coast and over Gippsland clearing. Fine elsewhere.
