MELBOURNE - Jan 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak, slow moving trough lies over the northeast while a high pressure ridge lies over the remainder of NSW. A weak front will affect the far south of the state this afternoon and evening before a stronger cold front crosses much of eastern NSW during Wednesday with a low developing over the southern Tasman Sea. The low will move towards New Zealand during Thursday as a high pressure ridge develops over the NSW coast. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and drizzle patches on the northern coast, more widespread in the far north during the morning. Possible isolated showers in the far south. Fine elsewhere though some high cloud about. Moderate to fresh west to southwest winds, turning northeasterly along of the coast before a southeasterly change on the south coast.Wednesday 11 JanuaryScattered showers about the Snowy Mountains and far south coast, with possible snow on higher parts of the Alps. Isolated showers over the remainder of the southeast, and about central parts of the coast later. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Moderate to fresh west to to southwest winds, turning colder, strong and gusty south to southwesterly in the southeast.Thursday 12 JanuaryThe chance of isolated showers in the far southeast and about central parts of the coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwest winds, fresh to strong along the coast but easing during the day.Friday 13 JanuaryPossible isolated showers on the north coast. Fine remainder.
