Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 9/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A series of fronts, embedded in the westerly airstream on the eastern flank of an approaching high, will move over the south of the State through to mid week. The high is expected to be centred south of the Bight later Wednesday, where it will remain through to Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers near southern coasts, increasing to scattered near the Lower South East coast. Patchy rain northwest of Coober Pedy, increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the northeast. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh near the coasts.Tuesday 10 JanuaryIsolated showers over the agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts and the Lower South East by late afternoon. Showers increasing to scattered over the Lower South East late evening with the chance of a thunderstorm in the south. Patchy rain northwest of about Woomera, increasing to areas of rain northwest of Coober Pedy. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the northeast. Moderate southwest to southeast winds, becoming fresh to strong near southern coasts.Wednesday 11 JanuaryIsolated showers about the southern agricultural area gradually contracting to the Lower South East coast during the afternoon. Patchy rain northwest of Woomera, gradually contracting to the far northwest during the day. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the far north with moderate southwest to southeast winds.Thursday 12 January
Fine apart from patchy rain in the far west and isolated early showers near the Lower South East coast. Mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southeast to northeast winds.
Friday 13 JanuaryFine apart from the chance of isolated showers west of about Ceduna to Coober Pedy. Mild to warm in the south grading to warm to hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday evening through to midnight Friday are expected to be less than 2 mm over the agricultural area, increasing to 2 to 5 mm about southern coastal areas. Falls of 10 to 30 mm are possible with the rain in the northwest.Saturday until MondayThe chance of isolated showers in the north and west. Generally warm to hot with mainly moderate southeast to northeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
