Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 8/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weakening high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea with a ridge towards Queensland is moving east. A broad low pressure trough lies over inland New South Wales and South Australia. A cold front embedded within this trough extends from a deep low to the southwest of Tasmania. The front will move through the NSW inland and far southeast today today before moving through the remainder of the state on Monday. Another high will move through the Bight behind the front during the week with a ridge towards Queensland. The low southwest of Tasmania will also move east and further fronts extending from this low may affect the far southeast of the state during the week.
Forecast for the rest of SundayMostly sunny on the the far north coast. Cloudy with rain areas and possible thunderstorms in the west and south, gradually clearing from the southwest during the day. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon over the remainder. Hot in the northeastern inland. North to northwest winds and coastal sea breezes ahead of a southwesterly change in the west and southeast.Monday 9 JanuaryIsolated showers in the northeast with chance of thunderstorms. The chance of morning showers on the southern half of the coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southwest change extending throughout.Tuesday 10 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the north coast and on the far south coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southwest to southeast winds, turning northeasterly along of the coast.Wednesday 11 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the far north coast and in the far southeast. Mostly sunny elsewhere.
