Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 5/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high 1022 hPa south of Kangaroo Island will move rapidly eastwards today. A trough of low pressure is expected to reach the western border late evening and move over South Australia during the weekend as a deep low moves across waters well to the south. Another high will then move to a position south of the Bight by the middle of next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the far west, becoming scattered near the western border during the afternoon. Isolated showers extending to a line near Coober Pedy to Port Lincoln by late evening. Warm about southern coasts, grading to very hot in the north and far west. Moderate east to northeast winds turning fresh north to northwesterly in the far west. Local afternoon sea breezes.Saturday 7 JanuaryHot with isolated showers and thunderstorms extending throughout all but the far northeast by evening. Showers increasing to scattered southwest of Coober Pedy to Renmark during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change moving across western and southern parts of the State during the day.Sunday 8 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers, scattered at first in the Flinders, Mid North, Riverland and south of the Northeast Pastoral districts, easing and contracting northeast during the day. Isolated showers continuing over the agricultural area. Cool to mild with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about southern coasts.Monday 9 January
Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area contracting to southern coasts in the evening. Isolated showers in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south grading to warm in the north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Thursday afternoon through to midnight Monday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm, reducing to 2 to 5 mm over the Northeast Pastoral. Isolated falls of 10 to 30 mm are possible with thunderstorms.
Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers at times about the southern agricultural area. Possible isolated showers in the far northwest. Mild in the south grading to warm to hot in the north. Moderate to fresh at times southwest to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
