Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front will move through western, southern and central parts of the state today before weakening into a trough over the northeast on Thursday. A high south of the Bight will extend a ridge over southern NSW Thursday. The high will move over the Tasman Sea Friday and Saturday with a ridge extending to the north coast and the trough weakening further. Temperatures will increase again over the weekend before another frontal system crosses the state Sunday and Monday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms in most districts though fine for the central north, far north coast and in the southwest. Northeast to northwest winds ahead of a cooler southerly change in southern, western and central districts, strong and gusty along the coast.Thursday 5 JanuaryMostly sunny in the southwest. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, mostly in the afternoon and evening, and tending scattered about the northern ranges. Hot day for the northern inland. Southeast to northeast winds.Fire Danger -  Very high for the Southern Riverina.Friday 6 JanuaryIsolated showers in the north, clearing from the northwest in the morning. Isolated showers on the south and central coast, clearing in the afternoon. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. South to southeasterly winds, fresh to strong along the coast.Saturday 7 JanuaryIsolated showers on the north coast and ranges, and along the southern border. Hot day in the west. North to northeast winds.Sunday 8 JanuaryIsolated showers developing through most districts, more widespread about the western slopes of the southern ranges. Very warm to hot northwest winds before a cooler southwesterly change in the west and south.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
