Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 4/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough over the far northeast of the State is moving northeastwards and will weaken later today and Thursday. A high developing south of the Bight will move eastwards to be located over the Tasman Sea by the weekend. Another cold front is expected to move over South Australia during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral district. Mild near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Fresh southwest to southeast winds, strong about western coasts during the afternoon.Thursday 5 JanuaryFine apart from isolated thundery showers in the far northeast. Mild to warm over the agricultural area, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds.Friday 6 JanuaryIsolated showers extending from the west, to be west of a line from Coober Pedy to Kingscote by late evening. Isolated thunderstorms in the far west. Warm about the coasts and hot to very hot inland with moderate east to northeast winds tending fresh northwesterly in parts during the day.Saturday 7 JanuaryHot with isolated thundery showers extending throughout by evening. Showers increasing to scattered southwest of Coober Pedy to Renmark during the afternoon and evening. Moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds ahead of a milder southwesterly change moving across western and southern parts of the State during the day.Sunday 8 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers, scattered at first in the northeast, easing and contracting northeast during the day. Isolated showers continuing over the agricultural area. Cool to mild with fresh west to southwesterly winds, strong about southern coasts.Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon through to midnight Sunday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm, reducing to 2 to 5 mm over the Northeast Pastoral. Isolated falls of 10 to 30 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayShowers continuing about the southern agricultural area with cool to mild temperatures and fresh westerly winds. Isolated showers in the northwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
