MELBOURNE - Jan 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure trough over the far northeast of the State is moving northeastwards and will weaken later today and Thursday. A high developing south of the Bight will move eastwards to be located over the Tasman Sea by the weekend. Another cold front is expected to move over South Australia during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated thundery showers northeast of about Oodnadatta to Woomera to Yunta, gradually contracting northwards and clearing late evening. Isolated showers west of Coober Pedy, clearing during the afternoon. Fine over the remainder apart from isolated light early morning showers in the Lower South East. Mild near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Fresh to strong southwest to southeast winds, easing later.Thursday 5 JanuaryFine apart from isolated thundery showers in the far northeast and isolated showers developing northwest of Coober Pedy. Mild to warm over the agricultural area, grading to very hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh at times near coasts and in the far north.Friday 6 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers northwest of about Coober Pedy, with isolated showers elsewhere west of Port Lincoln. Warm about the coasts and hot inland with moderate east to northeast winds tending fresh northwesterly in parts during the day.Saturday 7 JanuaryHot with isolated thundery showers extending from the west during the day. Moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change moving across southern parts during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday morning through to midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm, with isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated thundery showers contracting northeast during the day as a milder southerly change extends throughout. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area in a fresh westerly airstream.
