Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 3/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A cold front over the west of the State will continue to move northeastwards, reaching a line Ernabella to Renmark late this evening before weakening into a trough and reaching Moomba late Wednesday. A high developing south of the Bight will move eastwards to be located over the Tasman Sea by the weekend. Another cold front is expected to move over South Australia during the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated thundery showers except over the far northeast, tending to scattered showers over the south of the Pastoral districts, the Flinders and the northeast of the agricultural area this afternoon and early evening. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds, ahead of a cooler, fresh to strong southwest to southerly change reaching a line Ernabella to Renmark late evening. Areas of raised dust inland with the change.Wednesday 4 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers over the Northeast Pastoral district, contracting northwards to the far north late evening. Isolated morning showers about southern coasts and ranges. Mild near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Fresh to strong southwest to southeast winds, easing later.Thursday 5 JanuaryFine apart from isolated thundery showers in the far northeast and isolated showers developing northwest of Coober Pedy. Mild to warm over the agricultural area, grading to very hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh at times near coasts and in the far north.Friday 6 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers northwest of about Coober Pedy, with isolated showers elsewhere west of Port Lincoln. Warm about the coasts and hot inland with moderate east to northeast winds tending fresh northwesterly in parts during the day.Saturday 7 JanuaryHot with isolated thundery showers extending from the west during the day. Moderate northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly change moving across southern parts during the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon through to midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 5 mm, with isolated falls of 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated thundery showers contracting northeast during the day as a milder southerly change extends throughout. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area in a fresh westerly airstream. An upper trough over the west and north may produce isolated shower activity late in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
