Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 2/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. The high is expected to be near New Zealand on Tuesday, directing hot northerly winds across much of New South Wales before a trough brings a cooler southerly change to most of the state during Wednesday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the southern ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Light to moderate east to southeasterly winds in the northeast. Northeast winds elsewhere, freshening along the southern and central coast in the afternoon.Tuesday 3 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the southern ranges and south coast in the afternoon and developing in the far southwest of the state during the late afternoon and evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot west of the divide. East to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast in the afternoon. Winds tending northwesterly in the far west ahead of a southwesterly change in the far southwestern corner around midnight.Wednesday 4 JanuaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far southwest of the state extending to the east and northwest during the day and clearing from the southwest. Conditions expected to remain fine and mostly sunny on the far north coast and about the northeastern inland. Very warm to hot day with northwest to northeast winds ahead of a cooler, gusty southwest to southerly change through western and southern districts.Thursday 5 JanuaryIsolated showers over the northeastern half, tending scattered about the northern ranges with thunderstorms possible in northern and central areas. Generally sunny in the southwest. Hot to very hot day over the northern inland, milder southwest to southeasterly winds over the remainder.Friday 6 JanuaryIsolated showers in the east more scattered in the northeast. South to southeasterly winds extending to the northeast and becoming more easterly during the day.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Tuesday.Product IDN10031
