For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A weak monsoon trough lies over the northern parts of the Coral Sea. A weak high over southeast Australia extends a ridge of high pressure along the east coast of Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Monday Isolated showers along the east coast. Showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast and adjacent inland, mostly in the afternoon. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the far west. Fine elsewhere. Hot in the west. Light to moderate SE to NE winds over most of the state, tending moderate to fresh about the east coast. Forecast for Tuesday Mainly fine conditions are expected to continue as the ridge of high pressure persists along the east coast. Isolated showers about parts of the east coast, and some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast and nearby inland areas. Remaining hot in the west. Forecast for Wednesday The ridge should remain along the east coast, maintaining mostly fine conditions across the state except for isolated showers about parts of the east coast, and some isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast and nearby inland areas. Remaining hot in the west. Forecast for Thursday Remaining fine over most of the state. Isolated showers about the east coast north of about Mackay. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Gulf of Carpentaria coast and nearby inland areas. Isolated showers and thunderstorms developing about the southeast interior as a weak surface trough moves eastwards across the southern interior. Remaining hot over the interior. Outlook for Friday, Saturday and Sunday A weak ridge should remain along the east coast, maintaining the mainly fine conditions for much of the state. Instability likely to rise in the west over the weekend, extending isolated showers and thunderstorms to inland areas of the state. Staying hot in the west.
