Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 1/12 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high is centred over the Tasman Sea and will remain near stationary today. A trough of low pressure in the west of South Australia will gradually extend throughout during the week. A new high will develop south of Western Australia late Tuesday before moving eastwards to be centred south of the Bight during Wednesday and Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated thundery showers extending from the west, to reach a line Coober Pedy to Kingscote in the evening. Hot to very hot with fresh northerly winds, ahead of a moderate southwest to southerly wind change extending from the west to reach Woomera to Lameroo late evening.Tuesday 3 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers developing west of about Woomera to Keith. Possible isolated showers in the afternoon and evening over the remainder to the west of Marree to Broken Hill. Warm to hot over the agricultural area and West Coast district, continuing hot to very hot over the remainder. Fresh to strong southwest to south winds extending over western parts and southern coasts.Wednesday 4 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers contracting northwards during the day, into the far north late evening. Mild near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Fresh to strong southwest to southeast winds, easing later.Thursday 5 January
Possible isolated thundery showers northwest of about Coober Pedy. Mostly mild to warm over the agricultural area, grading to very hot in the far north. Mainly moderate southwest to southeast winds, fresh at times near coasts.
Cumulative rainfall totals through to midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 2 mm, with isolated falls of 2 to 5 mm with thunderstorms.
Friday until SundayPossible isolated thundery showers west of about Ceduna to Coober Pedy, gradually extending over the remainder during the weekend. Warm to hot ahead of a milder southwesterly change over the agricultural area later in the weekend.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
