Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 31/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system to the east of Tasmania extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast, while a weak trough lies over the northern inland. This high is very slow moving and will remain the dominant synoptic feature for the next few days, with daytime temperatures gradually increasing across the state as winds turn more northerly. A trough is forecast to bring a cooler southerly change to the region mid-week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayFine apart from the chance of a shower on the northern coasts. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Sunday 1 JanuaryThe chance of showers on the northern coast during the morning, and about the southern ranges during the afternoon. Fine and sunny elsewhere, hot west of the Divide. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Monday 2 JanuaryThe chance of coastal showers in the far north, and about the southern ranges in the afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere, hot west of the Divide. East to southeasterly winds on the north coast. Northeast to northwesterly winds elsewhere.Tuesday 3 JanuaryThe chance of showers about the southern ranges and coast. Fine elsewhere. Hot day in the west. East to northeasterly winds tending northwesterly in the west ahead of a late south to southwesterly change.Wednesday 4 JanuaryPossible isolated showers developing about the central and southern coast and ranges. Fine remainder. Very warm to hot before a cooler, gusty southerly change through southern and central districts.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
