MELBOURNE - Dec 31/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high centred over the Tasman Sea will remain near stationary ahead of a trough of low pressure moving into the far west of South Australia during Sunday, extending throughout early next week. A new high will develop south of Western Australia late Tuesday and then move eastwards to be centred southwest of the Bight on Wednesday night. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayDry and hot with light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, moderate to fresh near the coast with sea breezes.Sunday 1 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers developing west of Nullarbor after midday. Hot to very hot with light to moderate northerly winds, fresh in the west and parts of the north, ahead of a milder moderate to fresh southwesterly change moving over the far west during the day.Monday 2 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers developing west of about Port Lincoln to Coober Pedy by the end of the day. Hot to very hot northerly winds, ahead of a moderate southwest to southerly wind change extending from the west to reach Woomera to Lameroo late evening.Tuesday 3 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers west of about Oodnadatta to Lameroo. Warm to hot over the agricultural area and West Coast district as moderate southerly winds develop. Continuing hot to very hot over the remainder.Wednesday 4 JanuaryIsolated thundery showers contracting to north of the agricultural area by mid afternoon, then gradually clearing throughout by midnight. Mild near southern coasts, grading to hot to very hot in the far north. Mostly fresh southwest to southeast winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday evening to midnight Wednesday are expected to be less than 2 mm.Thursday until SaturdayPossible isolated thundery showers northwest of about Coober Pedy, extending over western parts on Saturday. Mostly mild to warm over the agricultural area on Thursday, grading to very hot in the far north.
