Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system over the Bight extends a ridge across southern Victoria. The high will move steadily eastwards, crossing Bass Strait on Thursday night. The high will be located to the east of Bass Strait by Friday and will be nearly stationary over the weekend. A trough of low pressure will move over western South Australia on Sunday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayMostly clear with moderate southerly winds and fresh evening coastal sea breezes.Thursday 29 DecemberIsolated morning drizzle possible near the coast. Morning fog over Gippsland. Morning cloud in the south clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. A warm and sunny day over the north. Isolated showers developing near the east Gippsland coast in the evening. Light to moderate southeast to southerly winds, locally freshening in the afternoon. Fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes developing.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate over the southeast, high elsewhere.Friday 30 DecemberIsolated showers or drizzle near the Gippsland coast contracting to far east Gippsland then clearing in the afternoon. A warm to very warm and sunny day in the north. Mild to warm in the south with morning cloud mostly clearing. Light to moderate east to southeast winds, fresh about the coast.Saturday 31 DecemberWarm to hot and generally sunny, although milder in Gippsland. Light east to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes extending inland in the south during the evening.Sunday 1 JanuaryWarm to hot and generally sunny.
