Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 28/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving low pressure system lies over the Tasman Sea, as a high south of the Bight extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. This pattern is bringing generally cool southerly winds to the region. The ridge is gradually strengthening as the high drifts eastwards, maintaining fine and stable conditions in most districts, apart from the odd shower near the coast. Daytime temperatures are expected to increase heading into the weekend as the high moves to the Tasman sea and directs warmer northerly winds across the state, with hot weather likely across many areas early in the new week ahead of the next southerly change.
Forecast for the rest of Wednesday
The chance of showers near the coast, and about the western slopes of the southern and central ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds, fresh about the northern coast.
Dangerous surf conditions along the the coast north from the Hunter.
