Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 26/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure is just east of Victoria with a cold front crossing Tasmania. Another weak cold front will cross Tasmania on Tuesday before a high pressure system forming over the Bight extends a ridge across southern Victoria on Tuesday night and Wednesday. The high pressure system will be centred just southwest of Victoria on Thursday before moving east to lie east of Bass strait by Friday night.
Forecast for the rest of MondayScattered showers and local thunderstorms clearing from the far east. Isolated light showers persisting near the coast. Moderate to fresh southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 27 DecemberIsolated light showers in southern districts, mainly morning. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, warmer and sunny in the north. Moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger -  High in the north.Wednesday 28 DecemberIsolated morning drizzle possible near the coast. Morning cloud in the south clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. A warm and sunny day over the north. Light to moderate southerly winds and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Thursday 29 DecemberIsolated morning drizzle possible near the coast. Morning cloud in the south clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. A warm and sunny day over the north. Light to moderate southeast to southerly winds and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes.Friday 30 DecemberFine apart from the chance of local afternoon showers on the eastern highlands.
