MELBOURNE - Dec 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure over the far northeast of the State will move into Queensland this morning. A high pressure system southwest of Western Australia extends a ridge towards South Australia. The high will move eastwards over the next few days to be centred near Tasmania later on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the Flinders and Pastoral districts contracting northwards to be north of Coober Pedy to Marree around midday and to the northern border late evening. Isolated light showers over parts of the southern agricultural area, contracting to the Lower South East and far southern coasts by midday. Cool to mild in the south grading to very hot in the far northeast. Light to moderate northerly winds in the far northeast this morning. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeast winds elsewhere.Tuesday 27 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms near the northern border clearing during the afternoon. Isolated showers about the southern agricultural area, clearing during the afternoon. Mild near the coast grading to hot in the far north. Moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh at times.Wednesday 28 DecemberFine and mostly sunny. Mild in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate southeast winds and fresh coastal sea breezes.Thursday 29 December Fine and mostly sunny. Mild to warm in the south, grading to very hot in the far north. Moderate southeast to northeast winds and fresh coastal sea breezes. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday morning through to midnight Thursday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm. Local falls of 5 mm are possible with thunderstorms. Friday until SundayIsolated showers in the far west. Hot to very hot.
