Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 25/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A deepening trough of low pressure over western Victoria will move slowly eastwards, reaching central districts tonight then clearing eastern districts by Monday afternoon. A cold front will move across Tasmania late on Tuesday as a high pressure system builds in the Bight. The high will move slowly east Wednesday as another cold front approaches Tasmania. The high will pass over Tasmania on Thursday after the front moves to the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of SundayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending more widespread near the central and eastern ranges with locally heavy falls possible. Hail and strong wind squalls also possible with thunderstorms. Humid with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending milder southwest to southeasterly over the southwest, extending to central districts tonight.Monday 26 DecemberScattered showers and local thunderstorms over the central and eastern districts contracting to the far east by the afternoon. Heavy rainfall possible with thunderstorms near the eastern ranges. Isolated showers or drizzle elsewhere south of the ranges, contracting to the coast in the afternoon. Mild with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds extending throughout by the afternoon.Tuesday 27 DecemberIsolated light showers in southern districts, mainly morning. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, warmer and sunny in the north. Moderate southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 28 DecemberIsolated morning showers possible near the Gippsland coast. Morning cloud in the south clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. A warm and sunny day over the north. Light to moderate southerly winds.Thursday 29 DecemberCloud clearing from the south in the morning, otherwise a generally sunny day throughout. Mild in the south, warmer in the north with light to moderate southwest to southeasterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
