Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A broad trough of low pressure over Victoria will deepen over western Victoria during Sunday then move slowly eastwards, reaching central districts Sunday night then clearing eastern districts by Monday afternoon. A cold front will move across Tasmania late on Tuesday as a high pressure system builds in the Bight. The high will move slowly east Wednesday as another cold front approaches Tasmania.
Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly fog patches in the south. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending more widespread near the eastern ranges with locally heavy falls. Possible hail and strong wind squalls also with thunderstorms. Warm to hot and humid with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds tending milder southwest to southeasterly over the southwest, extending to central districts by the evening.Fire Danger -  Severe in the northwest, locally high elsewhere.Monday 26 DecemberScattered showers and local thunderstorms over the east, easing. Isolated showers elsewhere south of the ranges, clearing from the west. Mild with moderate to locally fresh southwest to southerly winds extending throughout by the afternoon.Tuesday 27 DecemberIsolated showers in southern districts, mainly morning. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, warmer and sunny in the north. Moderate southwest to southerly winds.Wednesday 28 DecemberIsolated morning showers near the Gippsland coast. Morning cloud in the south clearing to a mild and mostly sunny afternoon. A warm and sunny day over the north.
