Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 24/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to New South Wales north coast and a low pressure trough over the northeast of the state is weakening. Another trough will move across the state during Sunday and Monday and another high will move south of the Bight on Tuesday extending a ridge behind the trough. The high is expected to move over the southwestern Tasman Sea on Thursday extending the ridge to the state far north coast.
Forecast for the rest of Saturday
Isolated showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms. Showers tending widespread on the far north coast. The chance of showers or thunderstorms about in the far southeastern inland. Mostly clear elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.
Dangerous surf conditions developing in the far north.
Sunday 25 December
Isolated showers about the northern coast and ranges tending scattered on the far north coast. Isolated showers in the southern and central parts with the chance of thunderstorms. Showers tending scattered on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds near the coast tending northwest to northeast inland, ahead of a late southwesterly change in the far southwest.
Dangerous surf conditions along the northern parts of the coast.
Fire Danger -  Very High in the Soutern Riverina.Monday 26 DecemberMostly sunny in the far southwest. The chance of showers on the far north coast and ranges. Scattered showers elsewhere with the chance of thunderstorms, tending isolated on the Northwest Slopes and Plains. Northwest to northeast winds terning south to southwesterly in the west and southeast.Tuesday 27 DecemberScattered coastal showers. Isolated showers in the northeastern inland and on the south and central ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southerly winds extending throughout.Wednesday 28 DecemberIsolated showers on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. South to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Sunday.Product IDN10031
