MELBOURNE - Dec 23/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to New South Wales north coast and a broad low pressure trough lies across the west of the state. Another trough will move across the state during Sunday and Monday and another high will move south of the Bight on Tuesday extending a ridge behind the trough. The high is expected to move over the southwestern Tasman Sea on Thursday extending the ridge to the state far north coast. Forecast for the rest of Saturday Isolated showers in the northeast with the chance of thunderstorms, showers more likely in the far northeast. The chance of showers or thunderstorms about the far southern ranges and adjacent western slopes. Mostly sunny in the western and central parts. Southeast to northeast winds. Dangerous surf conditions developing in the far north. Sunday 25 December Scattered showers about the northern coast and ranges. Isolated showers in the southern and central parts with the chance of thunderstorms on the western slopes of the southern ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeast winds near the coast tending northwest to northeast inland, ahead of a late southwesterly change in the far southwest. Dangerous surf conditions along the northern parts of the coast. Monday 26 DecemberIsolated showers throughout with the chance of thunderstorms. Showers tending scattered in the southeast. Northwest to northeast winds terning south to southwesterly in the west and southeast.Tuesday 27 DecemberIsolated showers in most of the districts tending scatted near the coast and on adjacent ranges.
