Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 21/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A weak low pressure system over the western Tasman Sea extends a trough to the northern New South Wales coast, while a second trough lies over the state's west. The inland trough is expected to move further west during Thursday and Friday as a ridge builds along the coast. During the weekend the inland trough is forecast to start moving east under the influence of an approaching upper-level system, and should reach the coast at the start of next week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayScattered showers in the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms over the northeast and about the central and southern slopes and plains. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds in the northeast. South to southeast winds elsewhere.Thursday 22 DecemberScattered showers in the northeast and the chance of showers in the southeast. The chance of thunderstorms over the central inland. Fine in the far west. East to northeast winds in the east. Southeast winds in the west.Friday 23 DecemberIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered about the northern coast and ranges. The chance of thunderstorms about the ranges and western slopes. Fine in the far west. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 24 DecemberThe chance of showers in the east, tending scattered about the northeast. The chance of thunderstorms about the western slopes, and the ranges and coast in the south. Fine in the far west. Southeast to northeast winds.Sunday 25 DecemberIsolated showers about the northern coast and ranges. The chance of showers across the south, chiefly about the southern ranges later. Fine elsewhere. East to northeast winds near the coast. Northeast to northwest winds inland, and a late southwest change in the far southwest.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
