Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system to the southwest of Tasmania will move further south today. An associated trough near the central districts will move over eastern parts of the State during the morning. A high pressure system will drift to the south of Tasmania on Tuesday and Wednesday to join with a large slow moving high over New Zealand by Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayRain contracting to the far east during the morning. Scattered showers to follow in the south and east but becoming fine over the northwest. Isolated thunderstorms in the eastern areas contracting to the far east during the afternoon. Mild with light to moderate southwesterly winds extending throughout by the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Tuesday 20 DecemberIsolated showers in East Gippsland. Patchy morning drizzle in remaining southern areas, clearing to a dry cool to mild and partly cloudy afternoon. A fine, mild to warm and mostly sunny day in the north. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds.Wednesday 21 DecemberIsolated showers or drizzle over Gippsland and eastern highlands. Patchy morning drizzle in remaining southern districts. Fine and mild to warm in the north. Light to moderate east to southeast wind, fresh about the coast.Thursday 22 DecemberIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the east, mainly in the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. Mild in Gippsland and along the coastal fringe but warm over the remainder. Light to moderate east to southeasterly wind, fresh at times along the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
