Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is maintaining a ridge along the New South Wales coast. Meanwhile, a broad low pressure trough is gradually moving across the state's west. Between these systems, northerly winds are bringing increased humidity to the inland districts, leading to the development of rain areas and thunderstorms. The trough is expected to affect central and eastern parts of New South Wales on Monday before stalling in the northeast, with conditions generally clearing in its wake as the next weak ridge moves overhead.
Forecast for the rest of SundayShowers and thunderstorms in the west, clearing from the South Australian border region later. Isolated showers or patchy rain developing in central and southeastern districts. Fine in the northeast. East to northeast winds near the coast. Northwest to northeast winds inland, with a southwest change in the far west.Monday 19 DecemberScattered showers and thunderstorms in central and southeastern areas, clearing from the west later. Isolated showers or patchy rain developing in the northeast. Fine and mostly sunny in the far west. Northeast to northwest winds ahead of a southerly change in the south and west.Tuesday 20 DecemberScattered showers in the northeast, with the chance of thunderstorms over the northeast inland. Possible showers about the southern and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny in the west. Northerly winds in the northeast. Southwest to southeast winds elsewhere.Wednesday 21 DecemberScattered showers in the northeast, with the chance of thunderstorms over the northeast inland. Possible showers about the southern and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Northeast winds in the northeast.
