MELBOURNE - Dec 18/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system centred south of Kangaroo Island extends a trough over eastern parts of the State. The trough will move east of the border this evening as the low moves away to the southeast. A high pressure ridge will move across the south of the State early next week and another trough will move over the far west. Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers persisting over the agricultural area, scattered about the Mount Lofty Ranges until evening. A mild to warm evening with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds in the east, ahead of a moderate to fresh west to southwest change extending throughout.Monday 19 DecemberIsolated showers about southern coasts, contracting to the Lower South East in the evening. Chance of isolated showers in the far west. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, tending fresh easterly in the west.Tuesday 20 DecemberChance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far west, showers extending to west of a line from Woomera to Port Lincoln by evening. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh in the west and with coastal sea breezes.Wednesday 21 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the west and north, with possible showers northwest of a line from Elliston to Leigh Creek, easing during the evening.Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds.Thursday 22 DecemberFine and mostly sunny. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon until Thursday evening are expected to be 2 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area and over the west coast and north of the pastoral districts.
