Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 17/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the west of the State will move slowly eastwards this evening as a low pressure system develops over the Bight. This low will then move southeastwards to be well south of Kangaroo Island by Sunday evening and the associated trough will move over the eastern states. A high pressure ridge will move across the south of the State early next week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayAreas of rain and scattered thunderstorms extending throughout central and eastern parts of the State. Local heavy falls, squally winds and possible hail with thunderstorms. Rain and thunderstorms easing to isolated showers in the west. A mild to warm evening moderate to fresh northeast to north winds, ahead of a moderate to fresh westerly change extending over the west.Sunday 18 DecemberAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms over central and eastern parts, contracting east of the border during the day. Isolated showers persisting over the agricultural area, scattered about the Mount Lofty Ranges. Mild in the south grading to hot in the northeast with moderate to fresh northerly winds in the east, ahead of a moderate to fresh west to southwest change extending throughout.Monday 19 DecemberIsolated showers about southern coasts, contracting to the Lower South East in the evening. Chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far west. Mild in the south, grading to hot in the far north. Light to moderate southwest to southeast winds, tending easterly in the westTuesday 20 December
Chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far west, showers extending to west of a line from Woomera to Kingscote by evening. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh in the west and with coastal sea breezes.
Wednesday 21 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the west and north, with isolated showers extending to northwest of a line from Kingscote to Broken Hill by evening.Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until Wednesday evening are expected to be 2 to 10 mm over the west coast and north of the pastoral districts, increasing to 20 to 40 mm elsewhere with local falls of 40 to 60 mm with thunderstorms.Thursday until SaturdayIsolated showers and possible thunder contracting to the far northeast on Thursday then fine conditions throughout on Friday ahead of possible showers developing about the west coast on Saturday. Warm to hot with light to moderate northeast to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
