MELBOURNE - Dec 16/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over the southwestern Tasman Sea is very slowly moving south-southeast maintaining a ridge to New South Wales north coast. A low pressure trough will deepen over the far west of the state today and on Sunday and then it will move slowly east during Monday. The trough is expected to move over the northeast of the state on Tuesday and weaken as another high pressure system moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the north. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas and isolated thunderstorms developing over the western half of the state. The Chance of showers along the coast during the morning and about the southern and central ranges in the afternoon. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Fire Danger - Very High Northern Riverina.Sunday 18 DecemberRain areas in the west, extending to the western slopes of ranges. The chance of thunderstorms in the far west. Isolated showers developing east of the ranges. Northeast winds tending southwesterly in the far west.Monday 19 DecemberShowers in eastern and central districts. Mostly sunny in the far west. Northeast to northwest winds tending southwesterly in the west.Tuesday 20 DecemberScattered showers in the far northeast, isolated showers over remaining eastern districts. Mostly sunny in the west.
