MELBOURNE - Dec 14/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system over waters to the south of the Bight will drift slowly eastwards to reach the Tasman Sea by the weekend. A low pressure system will develop over South Australia on Friday then deepen and move to the south of Adelaide on Saturday. An associated trough will cross western Victoria later on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine. Partly cloudy in the south, clear over the north. Light to moderate southeast winds, fresh along the coast during the afternoon.Thursday 15 DecemberFine apart from the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. Mild to warm. Mostly sunny in the south but patchy high cloud across the north. Light winds inland and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Low to moderate.Friday 16 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the central and eastern ranges during the afternoon. Cloud increasing in the north, mainly sunny in the south. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds and fresh afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Saturday 17 DecemberIsolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the eastern ranges. Patchy rain and isolated thunderstorms developing in the west later. Warm with moderate northeasterly winds and coastal seabreezes.Sunday 18 DecemberAreas of rain over the west extending throughout except the far east. Isolated thunderstorms possible in the west.
