Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends across the Bight to western Victoria. A low pressure system is tracking southeastwards across the Tasman Sea and will approach New Zealand on Wednesday. A high pressure system will approach Tasmania late on Thursday. The high should move south of Tasmania on Friday as a low pressure trough develops over South Australia. The high will move over the south Tasman Sea on Saturday as a low pressure system develops south of Adelaide.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in the southeast, more extensive over East Gippsland. Partly cloudy in the south, clear in the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds easing.Wednesday 14 DecemberIsolated showers over Gippsland, clearing from the west. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south, but warmer and mostly sunny over the north. Moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  Low to moderate.Thursday 15 DecemberFine apart from the chance of afternoon showers about the far eastern ranges. Mild to warm. Mostly sunny in the south, but patchy high cloud extending across the north. Generally light winds inland and fresh seabreezes developing along the coast during the afternoon.Friday 16 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers developing about the eastern ranges. Cloud increasing in the north, mainly sunny in the south. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Saturday 17 DecemberIsolated showers developing over the eastern ranges and in the west. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms in the northwest. Warm with moderate northeasterly winds and coastal seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
