MELBOURNE - Dec 13/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over the western Tasman Sea is moving to the south-southeast and a high pressure system currently south of the Bight is slowly moving east. During Wednesday and Thursday the high will move towards Tasmania, gradually extending a ridge to New South Wales north coast and a low pressure trough will develop over the northwest of the state. The trough is expected to deepen in the west on Friday and then to move very slowly east as the high moves across the southern Tasman sea towards New Zealand maintaining the ridge to the north coast. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayThe chance of showers about the coast and ranges with the of thunderstorms in the north. Mostly clear elsewhere. Southerly winds.Wednesday 14 DecemberThe chance of showers about the coast and ranges with the chance of thunderstorms on the northern ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere, with sunny periods. South to southeast winds.Thursday 15 DecemberIsolated showers and possibly thunderstorms developing over the northern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 16 DecemberPartly cloudy in the southwest and near the coast and on adjacent ranges. Isolated showers elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds.Saturday 17 DecemberPartly cloudy on the north and central coast and ranges. Scattered showers elsewhere tending isolated on the western slopes of the ranges.
