Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 12/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends across the Bight to western Victoria. A low pressure system off the northern New South Wales coast will track southeastwards across the central Tasman Sea on Tuesday and approach New Zealand on Wednesday. The next high pressure system will extend a ridge to the south of Victoria late Wednesday and during Thursday. The high should move south of Tasmania on Friday as a low pressure trough develops over South Australia.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers in the south, more extensive over East Gippsland but clearing from the southwest and central areas during the afternoon. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, mild and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger -  High in the northwest.Wednesday 14 DecemberIsolated showers over Gippsland, clearing from the west. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south, but warmer and mostly sunny over the north. Moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Thursday 15 DecemberFine apart from the chance of afternoon showers about the far eastern ranges. Mild to warm. Mostly sunny in the south, but patchy high cloud extending across the north. Generally light winds inland and fresh seabreezes developing along the coast during the afternoon.Friday 16 DecemberFine apart from isolated showers developing about the eastern ranges. Cloud increasing in the north, mainly sunny in the south. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Tuesday.Product IDV10310
