MELBOURNE - Dec 11/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight to Victoria. A cold front will move across Tasmania later today as a low pressure system develops over the Tasman Sea. As the low pressure system moves away to the southeast on Tuesday and Wednesday, the next high pressure system will extend a ridge to the south of Victoria late Wednesday and during Thursday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mainly over the southwest. Isolated showers also possible about the far eastern ranges. Cool in the south and mild in the north with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Locally high in the north.Tuesday 13 DecemberIsolated showers in the south, more widespread over East Gippsland. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, mild and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate southerly winds, fresh at times.Wednesday 14 DecemberIsolated showers over Gippsland, clearing from the west. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south, but warmer and mostly sunny over the north. Moderate southeast to southerly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Thursday 15 DecemberFine apart from the chance of afternoon showers about the far eastern ranges. Mild to warm. Mostly sunny in the south, but patchy high cloud extending across the north.
