MELBOURNE - Dec 10/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough of low pressure crossing the State will clear eastern Victoria by midday Sunday as a ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight towards Victoria. A cold front will move across Tasmania late on Monday as a low pressure system develops over the Tasman Sea. As the low pressure system moves away to the southeast on Tuesday and Wednesday, the next high pressure system will extend a ridge to the south of Victoria. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, tending to areas of rain over central and eastern districts overnight. A cooler southwesterly change extending eastwards overnight.Sunday 11 DecemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the east, contracting to the far east by the afternoon. Isolated drizzle or light showers to follow in the south, but clearing by the afternoon. Cool in the south, but milder north of the divide with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds extending throughout.Fire Danger - High in the northwestMonday 12 DecemberIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mainly over the southwest. Isolated showers also possible about the far eastern ranges. Cool in the south and mild in the north with moderate southwest to southerly winds.Tuesday 13 DecemberIsolated showers in the south, more widespread over east Gippsland. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, mild and mainly sunny in the north. Moderate southerly winds, fresh at times.Wednesday 14 DecemberIsolated showers over Gippsland, clearing from the west. Fine elsewhere. Cool to mild and partly cloudy in the south, but warmer and mostly sunny over the north.
