Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Dec 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over the west of the State is moving slowly eastwards and will reach the eastern border later on Saturday. A high pressure ridge will develop over the Bight in the wake of the trough and remain there into early next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayAreas of rain east of about Oodnadatta to Woomera to Elliston, gradually easing during the afternoon, becoming isolated showers by evening. Isolated showers further west gradually contracting eastwards. Isolated thunderstorms, clearing western parts in the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh northeast to northwest winds, turning milder moderate to fresh southerly in the west.Saturday 10 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorm about eastern and north parts of the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts. Isolated showers elsewhere. Warm to hot in the east at first with moderate northerly winds. A cooler moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change over the remainder, gradually extending throughout.Sunday 11 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral mostly clearing by midnight. Isolated light showers about southern coasts.Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Monday 12 DecemberIsolated light showers about central and southern coasts clearing, then isolated showers developing in the west later in the period. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday morning until midnight Monday are expected to be 10 to 20 mm over the agricultural area and south of the Pastoral districts with 2 to 10 mm elsewhere. Local falls of 20 to 30 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Tuesday until ThursdayIsolated showers about southern coasts clearing. Isolated showers redeveloping in the west late in the period. Moderate southerly winds tending southeast to northeast on Wednesday and Thursday. Mild about the coasts and generally warm inland.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Friday.Product IDS10033
