MELBOURNE - Dec 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system moving slowly eastwards across the Tasman Sea will reach New Zealand on Friday. A low pressure trough extends from South Australia into southwestern Victoria and will weaken on Friday. Another trough will enter western Victoria on Saturday, moving to central districts at night and into the east of the State on Sunday morning. Another front will move across Tasmania late on Monday as the next high pressure system ridges into the Bight. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine over most of the State but isolated showers and possible thunderstorms about the eastern ranges and also in the southwest. Light to moderate northeasterly wind and moderate to fresh coastal seabreezes easing.Friday 9 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. A warm, humid and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh northeasterly winds and coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - High in the north and west.Saturday 10 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly afternoon and evening. A mild to warm and humid day with a moderate northerly wind tending southwesterly in the west later.Sunday 11 DecemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms, contracting east and generally clearing later. Warm in the north, mild in the south, with winds tending light to moderate southerly from the west.Monday 12 DecemberIsolated showers in the east, clearing. Isolated showers developing near the southwest and central coasts.
