MELBOURNE - Dec 8/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low has developed off the Queensland coast, while a high is located over the Tasman Sea and is centered between Tasmania and New Zealand. This high will extend a ridge towards NSW on Friday, with conditions improving somewhat along the east coast. A trough over central Australia is moving eastwards and further rain showers and possible thunderstorms are expected ahead and with this trough during the coming days. It is expected over the west of the state on Saturday before continuing across eastern parts during Sunday and Monday, accompanied by another cool change. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayShowers and rain areas in the east. Isolated thunderstorms about the southeastern inland border, and possibly developing about the western slopes of the northern tablelands. Fine in the west. Southeast to northeast winds.Friday 9 DecemberIsolated showers or rain periods in the west extending eastwards, becoming scattered about the central and northern inland. The chance of thunderstorms developing late afternoon and evening over the northern inland. Isolated showers along the coast during the morning, mostly clearing during the afternoon. East to northeast winds.Saturday 10 DecemberMostly fine in the northwest and the far southeast. Showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms over the remaining eastern parts, and developing along the southern and western border regions, more likely later. East to northeast winds near the coast, and northeast to northwest winds inland. A late southwest change in the far west.Sunday 11 DecemberScattered showers and thunderstorms extending eastwards and becoming isolated in the far west before clearing. Northwest to northeast winds turning southwesterly in western and central districts.Monday 12 DecemberShowers and possible thunderstorms over the eastern half.
