MELBOURNE - Dec 7/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system will move slowly eastwards across the southern Tasman Sea during tonight and Thursday and move over New Zealand on Friday. A low pressure trough will develop over southwestern Victoria on Thursday, then extend inland before weakening on Thursday night. Another trough will enter western Victoria on Saturday, moving to central districts at night and into the east of the State on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers about the eastern ranges in the evening, otherwise fine. Light and variable winds and easing coastal seabreezes.Thursday 8 DecemberFine apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northeast ranges during the afternoon and isolated showers developing later in the west. Warm with light to moderate northeasterly winds and moderate to fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Generally high to very high, except in the east.Friday 9 DecemberIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening. A warm, humid and partly cloudy day with a moderate to fresh northeasterly winds and coastal seabreezes.Saturday 10 DecemberScattered showers turning to areas of rain in the west later. Isolated thunderstorms. A mild to warm and humid day with a moderate northerly wind tending southwesterly in the west later.Sunday 11 DecemberRain areas and isolated thunderstorms, easing to isolated showers in the west later.
