MELBOURNE - Dec 6/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high 1022 hPa centred near Tasmania will move over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday and strengthen. A trough of low pressure and associated low will develop near the western border on Thursday morning. The low is expected to move to just south of Ceduna Friday morning and then weaken. The trough will move eastwards to be near a line near Woomera to Kingscote late Friday evening. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the far northeast, clearing in the evening. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts with sea breezes.Wednesday 7 DecemberFine apart from isolated afternoon and evening showers in the far west and possible thunder in the far northwest. Hot with light to moderate northeast winds and fresh afternoon coastal sea breezes, extending across the Nullarbor Plain in the evening.Thursday 8 DecemberScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the west, with isolated showers extending across central parts during the day and eastern parts in the evening. Hot and mostly cloudy with fresh northeast to northerly winds turning milder west to southwesterly in the far west.Friday 9 December Fine in the far northeast. Isolated showers in the far west. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere. Hot with moderate to fresh northeast to northerly winds, turning milder southerly in the west. Saturday 10 December Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm about the east of the agricultural area, isolated showers elsewhere. Warm to hot in the east at first with moderate northerly winds. A cooler moderate to fresh southwest to southerly change over the remainder, gradually extending throughout. Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon until midnight Saturday are expected to be 2 to 10 mm with local falls to 20 mm with thunderstorms. Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers in a cool southerly airstream will contract to southern coasts and clear.
