MELBOURNE - Dec 3/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system well south of the Bight extends a weak ridge to Bass Strait. A cold front will cross Tasmania on Saturday with the tail end of the front moving through eastern Bass Strait early Sunday. The high will drift slowly eastwards towards Tasmania during the weekend and will be just west of Tasmania by late Monday. The high will weaken as it moves to the east of Tasmania during Tuesday. The high will move to the central Tasman Sea on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers on and south of the ranges, mostly along the coastal fringe. Isolated thunderstorms possible this evening near the eastern ranges. Light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland by the afternoon. Cool in the south but mild over the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind, freshening on the coast in the afternoon.Fire Danger - High in the north.Monday 5 DecemberFine apart from isolated clearing showers in East Gippsland. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 6 DecemberFine. Mild to warm and mostly sunny. Light to moderate easterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 7 DecemberFine apart from the chance of an afternoon shower about the northeast ranges.
