MELBOURNE - Dec 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system south of the Western Australia extends a ridge to Bass Strait. This ridge will erode tonight allowing a cold front to cross Tasmania on Saturday morning. The high will drift slowly eastwards towards Tasmania on Sunday and will be slow moving just west of Tasmania on Monday while another front passes to the south. The high will then move to the south of Tasmania on Tuesday night. Forecast for the rest of FridayFine and cool with clear conditions inland. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds, fresh about the coast at first.Saturday 3 DecemberFine and mostly sunny over the north. Isolated showers developing on and south of the ranges during the day, mostly along the coastal fringe. Cool to mild with light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, freshening in the south during the afternoon.Fire Danger - High in the northwest. Low to moderate elsewhere.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers in the south contracting to Gippsland by the afternoon. Cool in the south but mild over the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly wind, freshening on the coast in the afternoon.Monday 5 DecemberFine apart from isolated clearing showers in East Gippsland. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.Tuesday 6 DecemberFine. Mild to warm and mostly sunny.
