MELBOURNE - Dec 2/11 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strengthening high pressure system south of the Bight extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast. The high is expected to move slowly east during the weekend, maintaining generally south to southeasterly winds across the state, with any shower activity generally restricted to coastal districts. An inland trough appears likely to deepen over the north early in the new week in response to an approaching upper-level system, with some rainfall forecast to develop west of the Divide by mid-week. Forecast for the rest of FridayThe chance of showers along the coast and eastern ranges, otherwise fine. South to southeasterly winds, fresh along the northern coast.Saturday 3 DecemberThe chance of showers about the central and northern coasts, contracting north and clearing during the day. Isolated showers developing about the southern ranges later in afternoon. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Sunday 4 DecemberIsolated showers extending north along the coast, possibly extending to the eastern ranges. Fine elsewhere. South to southeasterly winds.Monday 5 DecemberIsolated showers near the coast, and the chance of showers developing over the northern inland. Fine elsewhere. South to southeast winds near the coast, tending easterly inland.Tuesday 6 DecemberIsolated showers over the northern half, tending scattered in the far northwest.
